Procurement

The department is based at the Warehouse and Procurement facility at Kings Norton Business Centre.

The Procurement Department of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust provides support and advice for the purchasing requirement of Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust as part of a service level agreement.

It provides specialised commodity knowledge for goods and services purchased for Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. The department’s responsibility is to improve purchasing and supply chain activity throughout the Trust.

Procurement hasthree distinct teams covering the following spend areas:

  • Capital requirements
  • Revenue requirements – medical items
  • Revenue requirements – non-medical items

The objectives of Procurement are to:

  • increase influence and control of non-pay expenditure by professional supply management
  • achieve savings annually on influenced non-pay expenditure
  • support and develop procurement staff
  • improve professional practices
  • constantly ensure good relationships are achieved both within the Trust and with external suppliers
  • implement E-Procurement
