Urogynaecology and Bowel Dysfunction services

We take referrals for patients who have urinary and bowel incontinence, prolapse and other pelvic floor related conditions. Bladder and bowel problems are very common and we see on average 80 - 100 new referrals a month.

Urogynaecology Services
Referrals come from a number of sources:
- Urogynaecologists and other gynaecology consultants at Birmingham Women’s (please click on link) Urogynaecology Services
- Consultant Surgeons and  Physicians at Birmingham University  Foundation Hospital Trust
- Direct GP referrals

Patients who are referred will be seen on an individual basis: assessed holistically and a treatment plan will be mutually agreed for each patient. This can include any or all of the following conservative management techniques:
- Pelvic floor exercise regime
- Bladder retraining
- Various biofeedback techniques
- Electrical stimulation
- Lifestyle advice and support
- Other related exercise advice
- Management of anxiety related to these  symptoms
