The Day Assessment Unit (DAU)

Sometimes women need to have additional care of themselves, their baby or both. DAU provides this service to pregnant women in a calm, relaxed and informal environment.

The advantage of DAU is that it enables you to remain at home with your family whilst receiving close monitoring which is usually decided upon by an obstetrician.

Examples of what is provided include:

• ultrasound scanning
• fetal heart monitoring
• blood pressure monitoring
• blood tests

Appointments are usually arranged on a day when your consultant has a clinic to ensure continuity of care.
