Books and e-books

Books and e-books(the online version of a book) that are available to BWH staff (and students on placement at BWH) are listed on our catalogue at Base-Library catalogue.
Loanable items listed in the Base-Library catalogue can be reserved and sent to any of the other Base-Libraries for you to collect (there is no charge for this service).

Or consult the e-books site for items purchased by NHS England (remember to log in with your Athens username and password before you search).

For books not available from the Base-Library catalogue please submit your request at book request form and we will do our best to obtain a loanable copy for you (you may be charged for this service).

Journals and e-journals

Print journals and e-journals (the online version of a journal) that are available to BWH staff (and students on placement at BWH) are listed on the My-Journals website, where you can search for the appropriate journal title or browse the A-Z listing (remember to log in with your Athens username and password before you search).

The My-Journals site also contains access to NHS England journal subscriptions and access to articles that publishers make freely available.

For articles that are not available via My Journals please submit your request at article request form and we will do our best to obtain the article for you.(please consult our ILL charges page for details of current charges for this service)

For articles that are required urgently (needed the same day) please phone the library on X8746 (direct dial 0121 627 5846) with your request and we will do our best to obtain the article for you by your deadline (please note that extra charges may be incurred for urgent articles, library staff will advise you on these).

QE library journals list Members of Base Libraries can consult print copies of journals at any Base library. Unless you are a member of UHB staff or a student on placement at UHB you will not be entitled to access their electronic journal subscriptions.

QE Psychiatric library journals list Members of Base Libraries can consult print copies of journals at any Base library. Unless you are a member of BSMHft staff or a student on placement at BSMHft you will not be entitled to access their electronic journal subscriptions.

Birmingham Universtiy catalogue Members of the public are allowed 10 free reference visits per 12 month period for reference use only.
Unless you are a member/honourary member of BU staff or a BU student you will not be entitled to access their electronic journal subscriptions.
