Inter Library Loan and Document Delivery Service

This service is for members of BWH staff only.
Students on placement at BWH should use their academic library’s ILL service unless items are required for BWH projects/work

Charges for this service are as follows:

URGENT ACTION ARTICLES	Charge
Article required for urgent / emergency patient care (5 minutes - 2 hours)	Free of charge
Article required urgently from our local network (5 - 30 minutes)	50 pence
Article required urgently from the BMA Library (same day)	£10.00
Article required urgently from the BMA Library (1 hour)	£15.00
Article required urgently from the British Library (within 24 hours)	£20.00
Article required urgently from the British Library (within 2 hours)	£30.00 plus Copyright fee

Journal club presentation	Free of charge
Clinical work	50 pence per article*
Research for guidelines / care pathways	50 pence per article*
Education / course for work	50 pence per article*
Presentation / training session	50 pence per article* ^
Trust research project	50 pence per article* ^
Service photocopying / printing of articles held by BWH	50 pence per article
Books required for the above reasons from BASE	Free of charge
Renewals of BASE books for the above reasons	Free of charge
1st and 2nd renewals of BMA or BL books for the above reasons	Free of charge
Further renewals of BMA or BL books  for the above reasons	£5.00 per extra renewal

* If large quantities of articles are ordered in any month by a person/project then further charges may apply (library staff will advise you about any extra charges before those articles are ordered).

^ If multiple copies of an article are required to be able to share with colleagues then further charges and Copyright fees may apply (please ask library staff about these).

Service photocopying / printing of articles held by BWH	£1.00 per article
Books required for the above reasons from BASE	Free of charge
Renewals of BASE books	Free of charge

Renewals of BMA or BL books	£5.00 per renewal

Important Information

• Items are paid for on collection a reciept can be issued upon request.
• The Library can pass charges to departments/budgets rather than Individuals. If you wish to use this facility please ask your budget holder to complete the BTA form and return it to the library before you request any items. For more information ask library staff.
• Invoices to Birmingham University budgets will incur a Minimum Charge of £20.00.
• The Library complies strictly with Copyright Law, the NHS England Copyright Licence and electonic product licences. For more information use the links above or speak to library staff.
