Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility.  We as a Trust also have a legal duty to protect and promote the welfare of children, particularly those at risk of abuse or neglect.  Great skills and sensitivity are highly important when dealing with abuse cases.  As such, all staff working directly with children and families receive training in this area.  In addition, there are dedicated staff within the organisation whose role is to provide Safeguarding support and supervision to our staff.

During the course of our work, we may come into contact, and work in partnership with other agencies.  These include Social Care, Police and Education.  We work within a framework set out by national and local policies.  You can find out more information about safeguarding children in Birmingham here .  The Children and Young People's Strategy is available on the Birmingham City Council website.  Our Safeguarding Children declaration can be found here.

Safeguarding Adults

The Trust has a duty to identify and report concerns they have if they suspect an adult is being abused.  Further information about local strategies and policies can be found on the Birmingham City Council website.

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 outlines a statutory framework to empower and protect vulnerable people who are not able to make their own decisions.  Additionally, the Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (MCA DOLS) safeguards have been introduced to ensure that no one is deprived of their liberty in a hospital or care home setting without good reason.
